Institutional/Program Membership Benefits

An Institutional/Program membership allows up to ten individuals from an institution or a subset of an institution, such as a department or program, to join NADE as a group. An I/P membership costs $350 per year, a savings of $150 when compared to ten individual memberships.

Key features of I/P membership include:

  • While the IP Membership is in force, up to ten individuals can hold NADE membership and have voting privileges, member registration rates for the annual conference, and one free SPIN membership each. Have more than ten people to include in your NADE I/P membership? Purchase additional I/P memberships for each group of up to ten individuals.
  • Welcome Packet. When completing the I/P Main Membership Application Form, each I/P group identifies its contact person (who must be one of the up to 10 individuals covered by the I/P membership) who will receive NADE publications for the group and ensure that all members of the I/P have access to the publications. When a new I/P membership is created, the contact person will receive one NADE poster and will also receive a set of "new member materials" for each person in the group who was not previously a
NADE member. This Welcome Packet has a value of over $30.
  • Publications. Members covered by I/P memberships receive individual copies of some publications, while they share other publications among the I/P’s members. Details follow:
    • Each member covered by the I/P membership will have individual access to:
      • The NADE Digest, published in spring and fall, and mailed to each member
      • The NADE Newsletter, published electronically in fall, winter, and summer on the NADE website
      • Access to electronic versions of annual reports, resolutions, and materials published on the NADE website
    • Each contact person will be sent the following publications to be shared among the group:
      • 10 paper copies of the NADE Fact Sheet (when first joining and at renewal)
      • 2 copies of each issue of the Journal of Developmental Education (three issues per year; print dates are approximately September 1, November 15, and January 25).NOTE: If the individuals covered by the I/P membership wish to receive their own personal copies of the JDE rather than sharing the two copies sent to the I/P contact person, they will need to either (1) remove themselves from the I/P and become individual NADE members (additional cost may be involved) or (2) subscribe to the JDE themselves directly from the publisher and pay the subscription fee to the publisher.
  • Conference Registration Fee Waiver for Upline Administrator. An Upline Administrator is an administrator at least one level above the individual with direct administrative responsibility for a developmental education program or service. To be eligible for a basic conference fee waiver, the Upline Administrator must have been included as one of the up to ten members on the I/P Main Membership Application and have been listed on that application as the Upline Administrator. The basic conference registration fee waiver allows an Upline Administrator whose membership is paid-up at the time of the conference to attend the NADE annual conference without paying the basic registration fee--a $210 value! Note that the fee waiver does not cover late registration fees or fees for optional events selected, if any. The fee waiver is transferable only to another upper-level administrator at the same institution who is covered by the I/P membership and who has a similar relationship to the developmental education program or service.
  • Recognition. I/P groups may receive special recognition in the NADE Newsletter and are listed on the NADE website (www.nade.net).
Values of I/P membership:
  • Camaraderie. All members of a department/program, whether faculty, staff, or student assistants, can belong to the same professional organization.
  • Inclusion.Don't forget to include adjuncts and part-time faculty and staff members in your group of up to ten individuals per I/P membership. Include graduate assistants, tutors, and other student employees as well to help them begin their professional experience.
  • Public Relations.Add up-line administrators as members to help keep them informed of the latest practices. Send an up-line administrator to the NADE conference. Have your institution be recognized by NADE as a supporter of developmental education.
  • Savings Benefit. The I/P approach saves 30% over ten individual memberships. Also, many institutions pay all or part of the costs for institutional memberships.
